James Blackwood

Lloyd Blackwood in Ohio writes:

The BLACKWOODS, who were in Southeast Ohio in the mid-1800's scattered through out the mid-West, to at least seven states.

I have traced them back to the John BLACKWOOD family of Belfast Twp., Bedford County in the very early 1800's. John Blackwood's will names: wife Rebackah, sons: James and William, and daughters: Janey, Ezable and Nancy. John's Blackwood's will was dated 16 Jan., 1804 and probated 17 April, 1805.

James Blackwood and his family were living in Pennsylvania in 1820, and by 1830, the Blackwood family had moved to Ohio, but James is not included in the listing. I have never found what happened to James Blackwood. The records say he was born in Ireland about 1774.

This is about all I know. I would appreciate any help that anyone can give me.

Barbara Lee (1828 - 1889)

I have been trying in vain to find the family of Barbara Lee, b. 22 Jan. 1828 in Bedford Co, PA, d. 25 Oct 1889 Tolono, Champaign Co, IL, married, 16 Jan 1851 to John Cook in Bedford Co., Pa.

I have found Barbara Lee living with Jacob and Matilda Dunkle on the 1850 census in Bedford Co, PA. Matilda Lee / Dunkle was the daughter of George Lee and Mary Wertz. It seems likely that Barbara was the sister of Matilda, but have found nothing to substantiate this. Also living with Jacob and Matilda Dunkle was a Benjamin Lee. These three must have been related.

I would like to hear from anyone who might have knowledge of their relationship. (Actually
would be esctastic just to hear from someone about them!)
Thanks,
Linda Garrett
