" I have a "Brickwall"
and have no idea where to go from here. I'm doing my researching
from
British Columbia so it makes
it difficult (impossible) to do any hands on searching.
My Brickwall is Adam Helsel.
Family records state that
he was born in Bedford Co. March 21, 1822.
Adam was married twice,
first to Rhoda Ann Ben, who only lived
one year into the marriage. Second marriage was to Catherine
Cline.
I have no record of either of these marriages - just family history.
Family history also states
that Adam and Catherine had a son, Jacob
Helsel, who was born Jan. 15, 1853 in Armstrong Co., PA. From
there the
family moved to Ohio where 10 more children were born. Jacob
was my
great grandfather. I have just recently found Adam's buriel place
in
the Dayton National Cemetery. I know for sure now that he really
did
exist. However, I am unable to find any information regarding
Adam's
life in PA. I have no idea if he had siblings or who his parents
were.
I would be extremely grateful to anyone that might recognize
Adam as
part of their family, or be able to tell me how to find this
information. Thanks so much. Maxine"
I see that John Heltzell
& Henry Heltzell both appear in the 1830 Census, living in Greenfield
Twp.
Both John and Henry have
sons who would be the correct age to be Adam. Could someone help
by sharing the names of
John and Henry Helzell's (of the 1830 census) children?
