Regina Williams of Chaneysville, PA. has sent some information on the above picture. Regina says that the store on the left belonged to Harry Aaron. (Is anyone researching the Aaron Line?) She has names written on her copy of this photo and they indicate that some of the people on front of the store on the left are: Elza McElfish, Henry Aaron, and __?___ Ratcliff.

 

Sept. 9, 2000 - Jerry Miller Tanker06@aol.com writes to say that his father believes that the person standing on the porch of the Aaron store (above), just to the right of the steps and in front of the window, was Gernia McELFISH. That would be Jerry's G - Grandfather.

 

Regina's photo indicates that Clayton Lee is wearing the white bib overalls on the porch of the store on the right. Notice that the sign over the porch possibly says: "A. L. Tewell - General Merchandise". There is a sign in the window over Clayton's hat that says: "Post Office". The post card (below) was probably sent from this store at about the time the picture was taken.
