Nancy Fisher nfisher@thegrid.net submitted the following information from the
National Archives Records on Samuel S. Mock, Civil War Veteran
from Bedford County:
Samuel was drafted and mustered
into service in Chambersburg, PA on September 21, 1864
as a Pvt. in Co. B., 91st
Reg't., Penn. Infantry.
Samuel was 36 years old
and a shoemaker by trade.
Notice that Samuel had to
pay for his gun and accoutrements.
(Nancy has explained that
Samuel had lost his gun and accoutrements and it was for this
he had to pay for the second
allotment.)
Discharged by General Order
No. 94.
Samuel was mustered out
of service on May 30, 1865.
Notice that Samuel wasnever paid for his apparel (payment
to which he was entitled),
until after he was mustered
out.
Something about this seems
strangely familiar today, doesn't it?
Thanks to Nancy Fisher for
